Altenew December Challenge - Peony Chinese Painting Card

For Chinese, the blooming peony represents "wealth". That's why you can see lots of Chinese paintings feature blooming peonies in assorted colors. Below is a best example I got from internet:

Of course, Chinese also love to grow peonies. Below is the peony my husband grew at our back yard. I love this pink lavender color very much!

Now I want to use Altenew's Peony Scrolls set to create a peony Chinese painting effect on a card to attend the December challenge. I use this ZIG Kuretake Gansai Tambi 36 colors watercolor set to paint. The purpose I want to use this set is because this set has a Chinese painting color tone and it also has a gold paint in the set to let me highlight peonies and leaves. Here is the watercolor set I used:

First, I used masking technique and white embossed the peonies and leaves on a watercolor paper. Then, I picked color No. 36 (named "blush" in Chinese) and No. 37 (named "peony" in Chinese) to color the peonies. For leaves, I used No. 58 (named "clump" in Chinese) to color and applied No. 90 (named "gold" in Chinese) to highlight the peonies and leaves. I also stamped the Chinese New Year greeting on the card (which means "wish you lucky, peace, and wealthy") and stamped a red chop (which means "blooming peonies bring wealth") beside the greeting. Here is the finished card:

Below is a closer look of the card, so you can see the gold watercolor paint highlights on the peonies and leaves:

Supplies:
Cardstock: watercolor paper, PTI (white cardstock)
Stamps: Altenew, Chinese greeting stamps
Ink Pads: Versamark, Versafine, Stampin' Up

Poppystamps Challenge #3 - Sparkle & Shine

This is my first time to attend Poppystamps Challenge. The current challenge is Sparkle & Shine, below is the challenge photo:

I decided to use the Blooming Poinsettia die set to make a Christmas card. First, I cut out each piece on vellum (see below) and applied pink Inka-Gold on the poinsettia petals and green Inka-Gold on the leaves.

Here are the colored poinsettia petals and leaves. With Inka-Gold applied on vellum, it gives these die cuts a very shimmery and metallic look.

I assembled the petals and leaves and attached on a stitched white circle die cut. Then I mounted the circle on the pink metallic card. Finish the card by attached the die cut greeting words and little pink gems on them.

Supplies:
Cardstock: PTI
Dies: Poppystamps, MTF (circle die), Simon Says Stamps (greeting)
Others: vellum, Inka-Gold, pink gems

I decided to make a chalk board look card using the Blossoming Buds set. First, I white embossed the flowers and greetings on the black cardstock. Then, I used the ZIG chalk marker to trace around the white embossed lines to make a shadowed chalk board look. See below:

I colored the flowers and leaves with prismacolor colored pencils. I cut out the finished black cardstock with a rectangle stitched die and colored the stitches with the chalk marker again. Finish the card by mount it slanted on a white card. See below for the finished card:

Fa La La La - Lawnscaping Challenge No. 96

Here is Lawnscaping Challenge No. 96 - Merry Christmas, below are the challenge photos:

I decided to mix & match different Lawn Fawn stamp sets to create this cute Christmas card.

First of all, I created this Fa La La La background using Milo's ABC's set. I lined up these alphabet stamps and stamped them on white cardstock with Versamark ink pad, then gold embossed these words to create the background. For the focal image, I cut out a square white cardstock and stamped the deer (from Into the Woods set) and two little birds (from the Winter Sparrows set) with black Memento ink pad. I colored them with Copic markers. I stamped these two little birds again on another white cardstock, colored with Copics, and cut them out. On the square white cardstock, I applied rubber cement on the deer and two birds to mask them. Then, I applied different colors of Distress ink pads on the background to resist. I also sprayed a thin coat of Tsukineko sparkle shimmer spray to make it shiny. After the paper dry, I rubbed off the rubber cement and attached two little birds with clear foam tapes on the deer. I also stamped the music notes (from Winter Sparrows set) on the background. I mounted the square on a piece of gold glitter cardstock. Finish it by put the black enamel accents on the eye of the deer. Below is a closer look of the finished square:

Here is another angle of the finished card:

Inside the card, I stamped "happy holidays" (from the Winter Penguin set) and gold embossed it. I also stamped the black music notes to match the card front. Below is the look:

Cardstock: PTI
Stamps: Lawn Fawn
Ink Pads: Versamark, Memento
Die: Simon Says Stamp
Others: Copic markers, Tsukineko sparkle shimmer spray, Ranger black enamel accents, gold glitter paper, gold embossing powder, rubber cement, foam tapes

Paper Smooches Anything Goes Challenge - Nov 30 - Dec 6

Here is Paper Smooches this week's Anything Goes challenge. Below are the challenge photos:

I decided to make a cute Christmas stocking card using the stocking stamp in the All Yule Need set. For the background, I used the clear stripe stamps to make the plaid background. Below are the photos to build up this plaid background:

I picked both red and grey ink pads to make this plaid background.

Here is the finished card:

The Christmas stocking was stamped in black and colored with green Copic markers on top and stamped the red plaid at the bottom using masking method. I colored the whole stocking with the clear Wink of the Stella pen to make it shiny.

Inside the card, I stamped the "believe in the magic" and silver embossed it.

Supplies:
Cardstock: PTI, Stampin' Up
Stamps: Paper Smooches, Wplus9
Ink Pads: Memento, Versamark
